Head in the clouds…Smiling

“When you realize how perfect everything is you will tilt your head back and laugh at the sky”
Buddha (Hindu Prince Gautama Siddhartha, the founder of Buddhism, 563-483 B.C.)

This is exactly how I felt yesterday, I was looking everywhere and had this grin on my face from all the joy I felt just looking at this spectacular sky we had.  Today is about the same, nature is giving all of the mothers one beautiful gift of light and sunshine.

White puffy clouds are all over the sky and all of this makes me feel so grateful for all my blessings. Today is Mother’s Day in North America and I am feeling so lucky to be a mom.  I am a firm believer that being a parent is one of the most important accomplishment one could have in one’s life.

If I had my child to raise over again
I’d build self-esteem first and the house later
I’d finger paint more and point the finger less
I would do less correcting and more connecting
I’d take my eyes off my watch and watch with my eyes
I would care to know less and know to care more
I’d take more hikes and fly more kites
I’d stop playing serious and seriously play
I would run through more fields and gaze at more stars
I’d do more hugging and less tugging
I’d see the oak tree in the acorn more often
I would be firm less often and affirm much more
I’d model less about the love of power
And more about the power of love.

This quote, is one I found right after giving birth to my daughter and I often look at it to keep me in focus.  It is like a compass, it gives me the True North in regards to my parenting skills, and also keeps me in check as to what really matters.  I would love my children being adults to say later in life …”I’ve had the greatest childhood…”

  1. Parenting is in my mind the most challenging and rewarding job ever. I'm still in the middle of it (a 15 yr old and a 10yr old)…What a joy it must be for you to see how your daughter is raising her own family.
