The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes.
Marcel Proust, 1871-1922
…The story in my head is getting louder…
…So why am I still looking for the right way to let it out?…
…Words are coming that do not please me, where are the ones I feel in my heart?…
…Head down, keeping at it, hoping to see the light…
[…] the beginning of the month of November I wrote and kept on writing until one day I got stuck…nowhere to go…nothing left to say. That evening as usual I went to take my shower, and within minutes I […]

The shot was taken from within the car while going to a friend’s house. I loved the light peeking through the trees

I can relate I have words coming in my head yet I can not let them go…I am the one refusing to play nice…this exercise is quite surprising

I would think that the way to go is to let the words run free, and then look and see what you have. Head and heart often tell very different stories, and only you know which one you are ready to tell now.

I am having a bit of an issue with the running free of the words…I have to let go of control and it is harder than I thought

Letting go is somethiing I have troubles with myself. A control freak? A perfectionist? Lacking in self confidence? Some days, all of the above. Perhaps it is a question of trusting yourself – again easier said than done. I hope that you find a way forward. I believe that you will – perhaps more than you yourself believe.

Hmmm, trusting myself I think you might have found part of my problem, Soosie…I’ll have to think a bit more about this 🙂

I just finished reading Ann Lamott’s Bird by Bird and she says she is often surprised by her characters. That she discovers things as she writes and the story doesn’t always unfold the way she thought it would. Maybe you just have to write your way through it? Keep believing- keep writing!

Bird by Bird is one of my all time favourites books on writing, Vicky. Writing my way through it is a bit daunting at times, yet I want to keep at it. Thank you for your being here xo

That quote is one that has been a favorite of mine for a long time.
I totally understand trying to find the right way to let that story out. The best advice I’ve been given is to just keep on writing and put all those words down, because, as my friend tells me, that’s the way writing really is. Messy and kind of disheveled and not what we think it’s supposed to look like.
Good for you for keeping at it! There are bound to be moments of light…stunning in their beauty.. just as your photo reveals.
