Lace on a tree

There is a pleasure in the pathless woods,
There is a rapture on the lonely shore,
There is society, where none intrudes,
By the deep sea, and music in its roar:
I love not man the less, but Nature more.
~George Gordon, Lord Byron, Childe Harold’s Pilgrimage

  1. Oh yes. And often I do like people less. I may still love them, but liking them is a different issue. Nature on the other hand, never disappoints. And it has never lied to me or kept me waiting either. Nor does it tell me (by word or intimation) that my bum looks fat in anything. Nature wins hands down.
(Please excuse my frivolity – it has come out of nowhere and will not be stifled.)
