A bit out of focus

Sometimes I do get to places just when God’s ready to have somebody click the shutter.

“He was not bone and feather but a perfect idea of freedom and flight, limited by nothing at all”
Richard Bach, Jonathan Livingston Seagull

Yesterday while being at Sweet Son’s soccer game I got to walk around admiring nature’s gifts. Being the amateur photograph I am, I tried to get some shots and I had a problem with the AF (AutoFocus) position on my camera. It would not focus at all so I desperation had to switch to MF (Manual Focus). I should confess something here. For the last two years I am  having a bit of an eyesight issue, nothing important really, just plain part of growing up :/

Anyways… I found myself struggling to have a clear shot and all the photographs you see here today are what I got to shoot. I have to say that I doubt I will ever return to AF position, this is how I wanted my photograph to look to begin with …I just did not know it…

December leaves
Turn your face to the sun and the shadows fall behind you. Maori Proverb

The light on those last December leaves was brilliant. Inspiring and breathtaking at the same time. I felt so lucky being outside on this gorgeous day taking my photographs. The skies had opened for a bit, the sun came to visit for the morning and I felt so alive. I got to wonder if I ever would have tried this new focus position had it not been for the problem I had in the beginning…

  1. oh those beauties against that big wide sky.
    i like the naked branches
almost as much as when they wear their leaves,
    maybe more.
    this relaxed me so……thank you.
    (i think you’re a wonderful photographer….you see so well:)

  2. Auto focus has been my friend, but these photos inspire me to dabble outside my comfort zone. They are a delight – and I love the ripples on the pond in the first shot. Perhaps M/F has allowed you and us to see things as they ought to be viewed, with some blurring around the edges and highlights where things matter most.
    Mega thanks.

  3. We all rely on “auto focus” too much in life — not just with our cameras…with so many other things that we take for granted and “take the easy way out”. So being forced to use manual focus — that put you in the driver’s seat so to speak…and showed you something that you had either forgotten or didn’t realize you could do. Love this post Anyes!

  4. Such beautiful pictures – just the way there were made to be seen! Ansel Adam’s quote is one of my favorites. Funny you should mention AF/MF – been having lots of discussions on how to stop depending so much on AF. I get all intimated w/MF, but I realize how much I’m missing out on. I must dwell in MF land for a while. Love your words 🙂

  5. nice…love the one of the golden leaves….and it was meant to be…smiles…and there is still beauty in a little out of focus…or what it would consider focus that we would have never seen if you hadnt…
