The clearest way into the Universe is through a forest wilderness. John Muir

It is not so much for its beauty that the forest makes a claim upon men’s hearts, as for that subtle something, that quality of air that emanation from old trees, that so wonderfully changes and renews a weary spirit. Robert Louis Stevenson
I did try.
I tried to write my thoughts under each of those quotes and shrugged. Why do I want to mess with perfection?
How do you feel when you walk in a forest? Do you have the opportunity to do so? Just curious.

I love the forests, I grew up in the temperate rainforest that is the Pacific Northwest (USA). One thing I have noticed is that every forest has its own smell. It really struck me when we were walking in the Kauri forests in New Zealand in January how unique the smell was. I would like to bottle that, I think it would be at least as relaxing as a forest noises audio because it would make me breathe deeper.

Yes, bottled forest smell, what a beautiful idea ❤ I grew up in the south of France and I live now in on the Pacific Northwest (Canada) and I totally see what you mean. Forest smell so different. 🙂

I’m in a city. There are parks and even the occasional tree-filled glade, but not so much a forest.

Living in Florida I’m far from a forest but I can close eyes deep breathe and pretend. 😁

Well just for you DiAnne, I’ll take walks on a beach. 😉

I feel lucky to look out my windows on to a green belt. Even though it’s peaceful, it’s not as soothing as being enclosed within a forest.

I live in a dry part of a dry continent (though by no means the driest). I very, very rarely walk through a moist forest like the ones your photos depict.
Nature is my cathedral, and trees are an intrinsic part of that.
